Stubbornness, Pouting, and Uncomfortable Grace
Jonah is not just a story about giant fish swallowing a man. It's a story about God. And more specifically, it's a story about God's relentless pursuit of grace towards us as we run from Him.In this sermon, we see that Jonah, though he had gone through a time of repentance, finds himself pouting and stubborn when things don't go his way. But rather than hammering on Jonah, God graciously reveals to Jonah areas of his life that need change. The story ends as a cliff hanger, seeming to remind us that as Jonah never "arrived," we also, in this life, will never "arrive," but we live by grace each and every day. Sermon by Pastor Jobey McGinty at Life Mission Church in Escondido.
