You Must Posses What You Profess

"

We often here the quote, "the truth will set you free!" But what this assumes is that you are not free; that you are enslaved to something. The more we think about this, the more insulting it becomes. "I don't need to be free, I'm already free!," we decry. But we are not. We are born into the slavery of sin, and we can't change that by a simple profession of freedom. We must actually possess freedom. But we have no ability to just declare this, just how a physical slave can't just profess his freedom. Something radical must happen. We need to be set free from the slavery of sin. And thankfully, this is exactly what Christ came to do for us. ABOUT THIS SERIES: The Gospel of John was written "that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing in Him you may have life in His Name" (John 20.30). The Apostle John, as an eyewitness and close friend of Jesus', desires for us to behold His beauty, love, and glory, and believe in His power and willingness to being forgiveness and life. As we journey through the Gospel of John, we will behold the life, teachings, works, and ministry of Jesus, and will hear straight from Him who He said He is, so that we would more deeply put our hope and trust in the Man who is God.
