1 Corinthians 15.3, 4
For I delivered to you as of
first importance what I also received:
that Christ died for our sins
in accordance with the Scriptures,
that he was buried, that he was raised
on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures…

Gospel is a word, but “Gospeling” isn’t its verb form, but it should be, because the Gospel is alive and active. As a matter of fact, the Gospel is called “the power of God,” and God’s power is action-packed, and the Gospel is at work inside every believer.

Even as a believer, I am in need of my heart being evangelized by the Gospel.  The Apostle Paul wrote to the Roman church, “I am eager to preach the Gospel to you” (Romans 1.15). The Greek word used for that phrase “preach the Gospel” is the word “euangelizo,” which of course is where we get “evangelize.” Paul wanted to evangelize to Christians! Why?  Because we are all in constant need of having the Good News of Jesus Christ preached to our hearts and minds each day. It is not just for non-believers!

The Gospel is not the ABC’s
of the Christian life,

but it is the A-Z of the Christian life.
-Tim Keller

In 2 Peter 1.13-15 and 3.1, Peter says that it is right for him to stir up his Christian readers “by way of reminder,” so that we can always recall the truths of the Gospel, and Paul told the Corinthian believers that it was of “first importance.” Though I am born again, I get discouraged, I listen to awful self-speak, I listen to the false “gospels” of the world, I neglect my reading of the Word, I get caught up in emotions that can steer me afoul, and I can also get caught up in transactional, empty religiosity that minimizes God to simply being my boss or an impersonal being with a long list of rules and condemnation or even a genie in a bottle. I need the true, simple Gospel every day.

The cross is not an event to leave,
nor a starting line,
but it is the path itself.
-Kyle Strobel

I should never “graduate” from the Gospel. I need this truth to be what empowers, equips, and shapes me every single day.  I have to ask myself, what has been gospeling me lately? What or who has been influencing me the most? Is it my fear of the future, or other circumstances? Or maybe it’s my emotions or personal preferences, or plans and desires I have for my life. Why do those things have the ability to disciple me the why that they do?  The Gospel of Jesus Christ frees me from being a slave to all of these.

Psalm, Hymn,
or Spiritual Song for Today

Nailed to the Cross
Rend Collective

Read Aloud:

When I stand accused by my regrets,
And the devil roars his empty threats
I will preach the Gospel to myself
That I am not a man condemned
For Jesus Christ is my defense

My sin is nailed to the cross,
My soul is healed by the scars
The weight of guilt I bear no more
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord!

When my doubt and shame hang over me
Like the arrows of the enemy
I will run again to Calvary
That rugged hill of hell’s defeat
My fortress and my victory

It is finished, sin is vanquished
Hallelujah, praise the Lord!
All the glory, all the honor
To my Savior, Christ the Lord!

When I stand before the throne at last
His blood will plead my innocence
I will worship Him with holy hands
And raise the song that never ends
Of Jesus Christ, my righteousness

My sin is nailed to the cross,
My soul is healed by the scars
Now I’m alive forevermore
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord!

Prayer of Repentance
and Gratitude for Forgiveness…

Pray Aloud:  Father, I confess that I often allow the “gospeling” of other voices, idols, and pleasures to shape and mold me. Help me recognize and even blaspheme my idols. I want Your Word and wisdom to be my treasure; help me to see the Gospel as my daily bread and that which gives me strength each day.  Thank You that You’ve given me grace and forgiveness, and let my knowledge of that patience You have towards me be used to break my heart and my bond from those idols.

My Daily Bread and
Prayer for the Spirit’s Guidance

Pray Aloud:  Holy Spirit, lead me into all truth and cause Your Word to find a home in my heart, that it would sanctify me, dividing my thoughts and intentions and revealing the glory of Jesus to me.

Proverbs 3.5, 6
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.

Meditate on and memorize God’s Word.
Finish with reading from your bible reading plan or these following Scriptures before praying in the pattern of the Lord’s Prayer.

Plan and Prayer
for My Daily Life Liturgy

Pray Aloud:  With my daily bread, help me now to enter my day and do all things for Your glory as I plan my way, allowing You to direct my steps.

Matthew 6.9–13
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
