Scripture Alone: Our Only Authority for Faith

"

This October 31, 2017 marks 500 years since what is considered the beginning of the Reformation. This was an important turning point not just for the church, but for the world. In this series, we will look at how five particular pillars of truth, called "the 5 Solas," dramatically shape and change our lives. In this sermon, we look at "Sola Scriptura," which means "Scripture Alone." What does it mean, and what does it NOT mean, to live by Scripture alone as our only authority pertaining to life and godliness? What guides our life and faith, and what things challenge that guide? Feelings, instincts, cultural norms? What do we do when we feel like we've gotten an insight or open door or an answer to prayer? Are we quick to put God's Name on it, potentially forging His signature and committing cosmic identity theft? How do we avoid this?
