I Am the Light of the World

"

Both the moon and the sun are sources of light for us, but only the sun has light in itself. The moon is merely a reflection of the sun. Jesus is the light of the world. Any light we have (character, goodness, purity) is given by Him, and darkness in our hearts and minds can only be done away with if we draw closer to the true light. And as that light shines brighter, it is like a dimmer switch being turned up in our hearts. We see more dirt and dust than we knew was there, but this helps us to first see what is lurking, but then also know how to fight any abiding sin. But this can only be done by coming to the light of the world. ABOUT THIS SERIES: The Gospel of John was written "that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing in Him you may have life in His Name" (John 20.30). The Apostle John, as an eyewitness and close friend of Jesus', desires for us to behold His beauty, love, and glory, and believe in His power and willingness to being forgiveness and life. As we journey through the Gospel of John, we will behold the life, teachings, works, and ministry of Jesus, and will hear straight from Him who He said He is, so that we would more deeply put our hope and trust in the Man who is God.
