God's Glory Through Good Works

"

We see throughout the Bible a consistent focus on God receiving glory. From our human perspective this can feel arrogant and conceited. After all, would any of us want to spend much time around another human being who is only interested in glorifying themselves? But it's different for God...His glory truly is the most valuable thing in all of the Universe, and He knows that when all of Creation, including each of us, are pursuing His glory then there is peace and prosperity as a result. In this portion of the Gospel of John, God gives us some insight into how we can best bring Him glory, and it's not by through self-righteous effort...it's by bearing fruit. When we abide in the True Vine, we WILL produce good fruit. God WILL get the glory, others WILL be blessed by our fruitfulness, and what do we get? The JOY of the Lord! ABOUT THIS SERIES: The Gospel of John was written "that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing in Him you may have life in His Name" (John 20.30). The Apostle John, as an eyewitness and close friend of Jesus', desires for us to behold His beauty, love, and glory, and believe in His power and willingness to being forgiveness and life. As we journey through the Gospel of John, we will behold the life, teachings, works, and ministry of Jesus, and will hear straight from Him who He said He is, so that we would more deeply put our hope and trust in the Man who is God.
