Growth Through Pruning

"

Jesus says His Father prunes the branches that bear fruit. Did you catch that? Not the branches that DON'T bear fruit (though He does take those away!), but the branches that DO! Why? So that there would be more and lasting fruit to come. It is for our joy, and for our roots to grow deep and strong so that they can support more fruit later. We would do well to receive the pruning and discipline of the Lord and entrust ourselves to His ways. When we allow ourselves to be pruned by the many people in our lives that love us, we are letting ourselves be cared for and set up for a future filled with bearing fruit that remains. ABOUT THIS SERIES: The Gospel of John was written "that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing in Him you may have life in His Name" (John 20.30). The Apostle John, as an eyewitness and close friend of Jesus', desires for us to behold His beauty, love, and glory, and believe in His power and willingness to being forgiveness and life. As we journey through the Gospel of John, we will behold the life, teachings, works, and ministry of Jesus, and will hear straight from Him who He said He is, so that we would more deeply put our hope and trust in the Man who is God.
