How Can We Serve Each Other?

"

How do we serve others? How do we enter into a posture of learning, listening, and of humble service, laying aside our rights, or comfort, or preferences, for the sake of others? With racial tension, silence amid racism isn't helpful, and there are hundreds of thousands hurting, yet we don't know WHAT to say, how to say it, or when to say it. We have a fear of saying too much, or a fear of not saying enough, or not saying it perfectly. Paul gives us insight by the example of Christ: become all things to all men so that we might save some. Incarnate ourselves into the lives of others. Seek to understand and learn, and be willing to show compassion in a humble, loving, and truthful way. This is not easy. And with high-emotion and high-opinion topics like race, rights, and politics, it's like an awkward junior high dance, but in a minefield. Ultimately, Jesus is our example of a humble servant who came to bind up the brokenhearted.
