Online Ministry Favorites

We love to resource people, “teaching them how to fish,” so to speak. There have been so many great theologians, pastors, teachers, and ministries throughout history, as well as many that aren’t that great. So where would we start?

Worship and discipleship is not an event to attend, but rather a lifestyle overflowing from the heart. One of the keys to this kind of lifestyle is to have your eyes and mind set upon the Gospel all throughout your day and week. For this reason, we want to help you by sharing some of our favorite online resources that you can go to quickly and easily.

Additionally, if you are on Facebook or Twitter, your News Feed is already filled with all kinds of news, and it’s good to keep up with friends and family, especially those who don’t know Jesus.  So why not have it also be filled with the Good News? I (Pastor Jobey) get some of my favorite and most encouraging reading based on articles that get posted to Facebook. But that’s because I fill my News Feed with ministries and pastors and others that provide such rich and encouraging content. I would love to see you do the same!
Here are a few great online websites and people to like/follow on Facebook and Twitter:

Online Ministries

DesiringGod.org

Dr. John Piper is one of the most gifted theologians and humble servants of Christ of our day. His ministry Desiring God is an amazing resource for sermons, articles, and insights into the Word of God.

TheGospelCoalition.com

An organization utilizing the gifts of various teachers, authors, pastors, and theologians committed to offering a variety of resources to help inform and encourage the body in their pursuit of good, healthy, sound doctrine. This site is an incredible resource for articles, videos, and other content on a vast array of theological topics, current affairs, cultural trends, as well as church and ministry issues.

TheVillageChurch.net

This is the website of the church led by Pastor Matt Chandler. Chandler is also the President of Acts 29, a church planting network committed to making disciples and planting biblically sound and missional churches. If you have a question on certain topics, check out their website for great, concise writings and sermons on various biblical subjects.

CARM.org

The “Christian Apologetics & Research Ministry” is a great site, especially for apologetics. You’ll find an abundance of writings on various theological topics. The great thing about CARM is their intentionally neutral voice. Often not choosing to write from a predetermined doctrinal point of view, but simply laying out the facts found in scripture and other historical resources, allowing the reader to draw their own conclusions.

GotQuestions.org

One of the easiest and simplest places to go when you have theological questions and run into various terms or topics, and are looking some quick insights. They do a great job in being very objective and not very “slanted” toward one theology or another, giving what seems to be a pretty fair balance.

Radical.net

This is the teaching and resource ministry of Dr. David Platt. You can find a number of great messages on many topics and Scriptures, including in depth teachings on various important doctrinal and practical issues in the church today. Platt is also the President of the International Mission Board, an organization committed to bringing the Gospel into the unreached places on our planet.

Best Commentaries.com

When you’re looking for a good commentary for a particular book of the bible, go here first! Listed by books of the bible as well as type (Technical for the geeks, Pastoral for those who are teaching in practical formats, and Devotional for personal reflection and growth). This is the best place to go to find out which commentaries are best for your studies.

The Bible Project

This ministry creates free videos and resources that explore the narrative of the bible, showing how it tells one unified story from beginning to end. They hope to explore the entire biblical narrative, breaking it up into short 5-10 minute videos. Their website as well as YouTube channel and App have a library of videos that look at the design of each book and how it fits into the overall story. They also create videos that take major themes in the bible and trace those themes from the beginning to the end of scripture.

EnjoyingGodMinistries.com

A blog from teacher, Dr. Sam Storms. The main focus, in a nutshell, is on teaching us how to enjoy God. A particularly helpful resource can be found in the “Theological Studies” section; select “Christian Hedonism” for a great article on God’s desire for us to seek and enjoy ourselves in Him.

Eternal Perspectives Ministries

A ministry from author, Randy Alcorn. The main objective this site and its resources are to teach the principles of God’s Word, emphasizing an eternal point of view and how focusing on and treasuring the promises of heaven affects everything we do in life.
