CloseUnlike the repeated animal sacrifices in the Old Testament, Jesus made a one-time, complete sacrifice for sin that has put it away forever. The work of salvation is finished, and we can rest in Christ. While Old Testament priests stood daily because their work was never done, Jesus sat down at the right hand of God, signifying that His work is complete. Our salvation is secure, an imperishable and unfading inheritance guarded by God’s power. Christ has perfected us, even as we are being perfected. God remembers our sins no more, so our response should be one of thanksgiving, not guilt or self-punishment. This is a reminder to trust in the finished work of Christ and live in the freedom He purchased for us.
