How to be Patient During Suffering

"

James is often considered the "Proverbs of the New Testament." James wrote this letter primarily to Jewish converts to Christianity around 60 AD. They had been experiencing a lot of external trials and persecution, as well as internal temptation, and needed to be encouraged in their faith. James offers practical wisdom for the Christian life. In this sermon, James gives us a command to be patient in suffering, but also gives us insight into how to grow in our patience. Suffering is inevitable, but there are things we can do to prepare us for times of suffering. This sermon came after spending time that morning praying for a week of Hurricane Harvey, Irma, and most personally for us, the death of a brother in our congregation, David Doke.
