IBCD Training

What is IBCD Training?

IBCD stands for The Institute for Biblical Counseling and Discipleship, and they are a ministry based here in Escondido whose mission is to equip Christians to be able to counsel one another in their local churches. They believe the Word of God is sufficient to help us in every situation we are facing, and they have created a clear path to train and equip Christians in biblical counseling called the Care & Discipleship Course (CDC) which, if you choose, can also lead to becoming a Certified Counselor through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC).

There are 3 Levels under the CDC, each level can be audited for free or you can choose to complete the required paperwork and payment to receive a certificate of completion.

How Do I Start?

Life Mission Church will be offering access to all of the training videos for those in our church that wish to join in this equipping.* Access to the videos will be provided for a specific period of time so please let us know you are interested by emailing Britni Radford at .

  • Levels 1 & 2 of CDC include the following 5 steps each:
    • 15 hours of videos (per Level)
    • A 10 question test (per Level)
    • 3 elective messages (per Level)
    • An interview with a Life Mission Church Leader and an application (per Level).
  • Level 3 requires the following:
    • Reading 2 books and writing response papers
    • Completing a minimum of 10 hours of observation; this can be done by video or sitting in on live counseling sessions at the Escondido location. (live sessions cost extra but are highly recommended if your budget allows. See below.).

At this point you have completed the Care & Discipleship Course, and if you wish to receive further instruction in Biblical Counseling and want to learn about becoming an ACBC certified counselor, visit www.ibcd.org/acbc .

Can I Study with Others?

If you are interested in joining a cohort study group with other Life Missionaries, contact Travis and Britni Radford at at Life Mission Church to find out when there will be a study group starting. By doing this, you not only have people to work through the material with, but you will also have the added accountability of going through the process with a group.
