How to Obey God

"

Do you struggle with obeying God? Do you want to do a better job following Him? How do we go about doing a better job being obedient to His commands? The answer might surprise you, because it has nothing to do with "trying harder" or "being more strict" with this or that. The answer is "love Jesus." He says, "if you LOVE Me, you will obey My commandments." If a husband loves his wife, he will want to honor her. If he does not love his wife, but simply knows that adultery is wrong, he may "try harder" to honor her, but it won't last long or be very effective. The solution is to fall more in love with his wife. It is the same with Jesus; we will follow Him if we truly love Him. ABOUT THIS SERIES: The Gospel of John was written "that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing in Him you may have life in His Name" (John 20.30). The Apostle John, as an eyewitness and close friend of Jesus', desires for us to behold His beauty, love, and glory, and believe in His power and willingness to being forgiveness and life. As we journey through the Gospel of John, we will behold the life, teachings, works, and ministry of Jesus, and will hear straight from Him who He said He is, so that we would more deeply put our hope and trust in the Man who is God.
