The Wedding Feast at Cana

"

Jesus unveils His public ministry at a wedding. At this wedding, He famously turns water into wine. But why? This water was used by the Jews for ritual cleansing, and as Jesus asks them to fill these jars (about 180 gallons worth!) to the brim, He changes it into the best wine anyone has tasted! In our lives, we live off of performancism and reward, whether it is in our jobs, schools, and most of our relationships. But God is different. We can fill our lives to the brim with good deeds, religious activity, and good intentions, but something more is needed. Something that only Jesus can do, and that is transform our hearts and make us alive and cleansed on the inside, not just on the outside. ABOUT THIS SERIES: The Gospel of John was written "that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing in Him you may have life in His Name" (John 20.30). The Apostle John, as an eyewitness and close friend of Jesus', desires for us to behold His beauty, love, and glory, and believe in His power and willingness to being forgiveness and life. As we journey through the Gospel of John, we will behold the life, teachings, works, and ministry of Jesus, and will hear straight from Him who He said He is, so that we would more deeply put our hope and trust in the Man who is God.

Scripture References: John 2:1-12
