1 Corinthians 15.1–2
1 Now I would remind you, brothers,
of the gospel I preached to you,
which you received, in which you stand,
2 and by which you are being saved,
if you hold fast to the word I preached to you
—unless you believed in vain.

Paul says that he wants to remind the Christians in Corinth of something simple: the Gospel. He wants to remind them of the truth that he first preached to them already. But why do they need reminded? Because we very easily “forget” the Gospel and its truths. We slip into old ways of thinking, or slip into the pursuit of earning God’s favor and love, or slip into the shame and condemnation that comes from our sin. We all suffer from what can be called “Gospel Amnesia.” We simply forget about what is actually and totally true. Peter also says in 2 Peter 1.12 that he thinks that it’s right for him to always remind them of these things, even though they already are established in them.
The only remedy for our Gospel Amnesia
is a constant IV drip of Gospel Reminders.
Whenever I want to get good at something, it takes constant practice, training, and continuous reps at whatever I am pursuing. The same is true when it comes to “Gospeling” myself. I need constant reminders and repetition of truth, or else I will start getting off the path and drifting. This is why daily Gospel reminders, memorizing Scripture, and singing truth-filled songs are important for us. They are reps that build our spiritual muscle memory to keep us from drifting and help us grow in spiritual strength and stamina. We have favorite songs we can listen to over and over again, or movies we can watch multiple times, to the point where we know the lyrics or the lines by heart. It ought to be the same with truth. We always need to be reminded of the same Scriptures, the same truths, and the same Gospel promises.
Spiritual reps are the
daily disciplines needed
for lifelong spiritual health
and strength.
In tomorrow’s devotion, we will look at the next two verses that come after 1 Corinthians 15.1-2 as we start from the beginning of this 60 Day Devotional, because by now, you and I both need to be reminded of the truths we started in two months ago. The same truths that Paul wanted to remind the Corinthians of. May that be as fresh now as when we first were reminded of them 60 days ago.

Personalize and Read or Pray Aloud:
Psalm 84.1–12
1 How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts!
2 My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the Lord;
my heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God.
3 Even the sparrow finds a home,
and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may lay her young, at your altars,
O Lord of hosts, my King and my God.
Blessed are those who dwell in your house,
ever singing your praise!
Selah
5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you,
in whose heart are the highways to Zion.
6 As they go through the Valley of Baca
they make it a place of springs;
the early rain also covers it with pools.
7 They go from strength to strength;
each one appears before God in Zion.
8 O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer;
give ear, O God of Jacob!
Selah
9 Behold our shield, O God; look on the face of your anointed!
10 For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
the Lord bestows favor and honor.
No good thing does he withhold
from those who walk uprightly.

Pray Aloud:
Matthew 6.9–13
9 Pray then like this:
“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.
10 Your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread,
12 and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
