Jobey McGinty

Jobey was born and raised in the Los Angeles area until he was 14, when he moved with his family to Sioux City, Iowa.  After graduating from High School there, he moved back to L.A.  At the age of 18, he was caught off guard by the love and grace of God, and soon after enrolled in Bible College.  For the next 14 years, he found himself in full time ministry.

A musician from age 13, over the course of that time, he spent 9 1/2 years primarily overseeing the music and creative arts at their church before transitioning into a teaching role in 2011. Then, in the Summer of 2011, the Lord began to stir in his heart a new desire to lead worship in a whole new way; not by playing his guitar and singing, but by leading a church into the Word of God. This led to Jobey and Katie being sent out from their church to start Life Mission Church on January 6, 2013.

Jobey and Katie have been married since 2001 and have two boys, Micah Slane (born in ’04), and Liam Slane (born in ’07).  As a family, they love watching and playing baseball, they love making music (both the boys serve on the worship team), and they love enjoying the company of their friends.

Jobey coaches youth baseball for both of his sons; a travel team for Liam and at the High School for Micah. He loves coaching and spending time with his own sons, as well as his sons’ friends.

In 2019, the McGintys were able to visit Israel for their first time (seen on the Sea of Galilee above), which was a richly rewarding experience for them to have together along with Jobey’s parents who were with them.

Their family is also actively involved with Breath of Heaven, an orphan ministry in Zambia, Africa, as well with other teaching and discipleship opportunities in Zambia, where Jobey travels to twice per year to serve. The family sponsors three boys whom they love dearly, two of whom are now in college, and as a family have visited twice.
